Wearable devices are not necessarily new. Smartphones and smaller technology has opened up the door for a more accessible interactive view of the world.
Google glass for instance allows you to record your daily activities from the users point of view. Nike fit, Jawbone up and Fitbug are but a few wearable devices targeted at health driven events and tracking. 3d printing has opened up the doors for lightweight exo-skeletons to aid individuals with muscular dystrophy. Custom tailored 3d printed clothing is now a reality.
What this means for business is that there are now various opportunities to monetize on existing technologies. As an interaction designer my focus has been on user experience with mobile devices but there comes a point where device segmentation makes it hard to track the goals for all end users.
